Lemon Lime Prayer Plant (Maranta Leuconeura 'Lemon Lime') is an extremely popular tropical houseplant loved for its vibrant folaige and moving leaves.
Maranta plants are known as prayer plants because they move their foliage to follow the sun's movement in the sky. This is done in order to maximize their light absorption.
☀️ Marantas prefer bright indirect light to thrive. Avoid putting your plant where it can receive direct sunlight as this can cause bleaching of the leaves and crispy brown tips. Lower light conditions will result in slower growth, faded leaf color, and you may also see smaller leaves or large spaces between the leaves.
💧 Water with distilled water, rainwater or bottled water if possible. They do not like the minerals in hard water. Maintain moist soil and water once the surface of the top half of soil starts to dry. Never allow to fully dry out!
🚿 Humidity is one of the most important things to focus on to keep your prayer plant happy. If your plant is starting to show signs of brown leaf edges or tips, this can be a sign of low humidity. Humidity of 60% or higher is usually what allows these plants to thrive. You can achieve this by adding a pebble tray, placing them in a greenhouse, grouping your plants together or using a humidifier.
🌡 Tropical houseplants do well indoors because they prefer the same temperature range as humans. For best growth, keep your peacock plants in a room where temperatures are between 60°F-75ºF, avoiding any sudden drops in temperature OR drafts from AC/Heater vents.
