Pink Quill Plant aka Tillandsia Cyanea
A bromeliad that grows an air plant!
☀️ Bright, but indirect natural light is best. Direct light is too harsh so avoid it at all costs.
💦 Soak growing medium when fully dry and mist foliage weekly, as you would an air plant. Less watering in the late fall & winter is completely normal.
🪴 Needs excellent drainage to thrive. Orchid bark, Cymbidium mix, or coco coir with orchid bark is a great growing medium for these plants.
🌱 Not much fertilizer is required for these plants, but if you do want to fertilize, it’s best to do so in the spring & summer. Orchid food or Air plant fertilizer is best & should be misted on its foliage, since that’s where they absorb their nutrients.
🌸 Propagating with these plants is pretty easy once pups start to form at the base of the mother plant. Once they appear, the mother or main plant, will eventually die off. This is completely normal & part of their natural life cycle. You can either leave them attached to the mother plant and can cut the dead foliage off or you can remove the pups & plant them into another pot.
🐾 Non-toxic and pet-friendly!
